Worship & Arts

I am amazed by the story in 2 Chronicles 20. The Moabites, Ammonites and some of the Meunites have come to destroy Judah. At this point they are already close by and Judah is far outnumbered. So what does King Jehoshaphat do? He inquires of the Lord and proclaimed a fast for all of Judah. And the people of Judah came together from every town to seek after the Lord! They had a big worship service! They looked at God’s promises, they sought after the Lord and prayed and they responded in worship. Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, the people fell down in worship and they praised the Lord with very loud voices! Then the next morning they headed out to battle with the singers leading the way!

“As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.” (2 Chronicles 20:22) What a picture of the gathered church! We face an enemy who seeks to destroy us! Our world system wants to remove us, and our very own flesh battles against us. What a great reminder as we come together! The battle we face is the Lord’s, and we fight by seeking after the Lord and falling down in worship.
